de’sendent Nominated for Best Destination Dining in Australia

We’re incredibly proud to share that de’sendent was nominated for Best Destination Dining at the 2026 Gourmet Traveller Australian Restaurant Awards, placing us among five restaurants recognised nationally in the category.

The nomination recognises restaurants where the dining experience is worth travelling for — places that offer something that would be remarkable wherever they were located, while also embracing the character and produce of their region.

For de’sendent, being recognised in this category feels particularly meaningful. Located in Margaret River, our restaurant is deeply connected to Western Australia and the incredible producers who surround us. Our menu is driven by local produce, with the care and passion of those producers reflected in what we put on the plate.

Gourmet Traveller described de’sendent as a restaurant showcasing “local producers who care as much as team de’sendent does”, highlighting the produce-driven approach that sits at the heart of what we do.

The nomination came alongside a particularly memorable night for the team, with de’sendent also taking home Western Australia’s Restaurant of the Year and Joshua Down receiving a national nomination for Restaurant Personality of the Year.

While the national Best Destination Dining award ultimately went to Queensland’s The Woodshed, being considered alongside some of Australia’s leading regional restaurants is an honour we’re incredibly proud of.

For us, destination dining is about more than the food. It’s the reason to make the journey — the combination of the setting, the produce, the wine, the service and the experience that awaits when you arrive.

We’re incredibly grateful to Gourmet Traveller for the recognition, and to our team, producers and guests who continue to make de’sendent a destination worth travelling for.
